Two By Two

Verse

In a world of rain, a man named Noah stood,

With a word from God, misunderstood.

"Build a great big boat, of gopher wood,"

Said the voice from above, for the greater good.

The water's comin', to wash the land,

So fill this vessel with all you can.

Chorus

The animals marching two by two,

Elephants and lions and kangaroos.

The giraffes with necks so long and tall,

The monkeys chattering, answering the call.

Up to the ark, they walk with grace,

The last safe spot in this watery place.

Verse

The hammers rang, the saws they sang,

As the timbers rose, with a mighty clang.

His family worked, with sweat and might,

Through the day and through the night.

The ark took shape, a wonder to see,

A floating home for you and me.

Chorus

The animals marching two by two,

Elephants and lions and kangaroos.

The giraffes with necks so long and tall,

The monkeys chattering, answering the call.

Up to the ark, they walk with grace,

The last safe spot in this watery place.

Bridge

Then the sky turned dark, the clouds rolled in,

The floodgates opened, and the rain began.

For forty days and forty nights,

The ark it rode, through storm and lights.

It sailed the waves, a lonely sight,

Keeping its passengers safe and tight.

Chorus

The animals marching two by two,

Elephants and lions and kangaroos.

The giraffes with necks so long and tall,

The monkeys chattering, answering the call.

Up to the ark, they walk with grace,

The last safe spot in this watery place.

Outro

And when the sun broke through the grey,

A rainbow shimmered at the close of day.

A promise made, for all to see,

A new beginning, for you and me.
