Longing for Peace

Verse

Peace Now! Is the cry of our fallen world.

We all want the same with our flags unfurled.

We want peace on our terms, not their way.

We want peace now, but maybe another day.

Where is the peace that God promised to us?

The peace that brings silence as the voices are hushed.

Can’t God see what we all want on earth?

We want peace now, not a new birth.

When will the war drums, their beating stop?

When will we trade in our weapons for crops?

Doesn’t the life of everyone to God still matter?

The promise of hope is drowned by the clatter.

Chorus

Give us peace Lord, we want it now

Give us peace we cry out loud

Can’t wait ‘til all are found dead

Give us peace on the road ahead

Bridge

Then God speaks to all with a voice like thunder!

Our hearts and our minds are filled with wonder

As He speaks the words that we’ve been waiting to hear

My peace I give you, My return is near.

And peace will be found when sin is abated

His peace is ours when in faith we’re related

If we just bow our hearts to Him in prayer

True peace will be ours, in our hearts it will be there.

And our demands of the world turn into our serving

To help others see that they are deserving

To have the same peace we have found in our hearts

Peace that is deep in our inward parts.

And one person at a time finds peace in this world

Until we no longer have our flags unfurled

We now look out each for the other

As now we are all, sisters and brothers.

Chorus

Give us peace Lord, we want it now

Give us peace we cry out loud

Can’t wait ‘til all are found dead

Give us peace on the road ahead

Chorus

Give us peace Lord, we want it now

Give us peace we cry out loud

Can’t wait ‘til all are found dead

Give us peace on the road ahead

Chorus

Give us peace Lord, we want it now

Give us peace we cry out loud

Can’t wait ‘til all are found dead

Give us peace on the road ahead
