Rules of Scientific Notation

Intro

Let's learn something new today, about numbers in a clever way

Verse

Scientific notation, a way to write,

Very big or very small numbers make it light

A number between one and ten, you pick,

Times ten raised to a power, that's the trick!

Pre-chorus

Move the decimal to here or there,

Count the places, show the power with care

Positive if left, negative if right,

This is how we keep the numbers right

Chorus

Oh, the rules of scientific notation,

Make math easier, bring simplification

Multiply powers, add exponents too,

Divide by subtracting, it’s easy to do!

Verse

Remember to keep the number neat,

One digit before the decimal you meet

When multiplying, powers combine,

Add the exponents every single time

Pre-chorus

Dividing powers, don’t you fear,

Subtract exponents, it’s all clear

And when you have a power raised to a power,

Multiply exponents; it’s math’s superpower

Chorus

Oh, the rules of scientific notation,

Make math easier, bring simplification

Multiply powers, add exponents too,

Divide by subtracting, it’s easy to do!

Bridge

Zeros count in powers, that’s the key,

To write the numbers accurately

Practice these rules, and you will see,

Scientific notation’s the way to be!

Chorus

Oh, the rules of scientific notation,

Make math easier, bring simplification

Multiply powers, add exponents too,

Divide by subtracting, it’s easy to do!

Outro

So now you know to write it right,

Scientific notation, out of sight!
