Snow Day

Intro

Snow day, snow day, ah-ah

Snow day, snow day, hey

Verse

Blankets on the radiator, steam paints the glass

My sneakers by the doorway, the world moving slow as molasses

Mailbox sunk like a secret nobody's opened yet

We trace frost with our fingers, write the names we won't forget

Pre-chorus

Cancel the plans, dim the screens, let the clocks misbehave (let 'em be)

Paper crowns on the sill, we rule a quiet, small parade

Chorus

Snow day, snow day, stay, stay (oh-oh)

Snow day, snow day, we don't gotta run away (nah, nah)

Snow day, snow day, play, play (hey, hey)

Snow day, snow day, melt into the day — whoa, whoa

Verse

Sled's in the alley, laughter ricochets off mailbox doors

Tire tracks make a question mark that leads down to the shore

Cups clink, marshmallows sink slow into warm cream

Outside is a big soft pause, inside we're held in a dream

Pre-chorus

Button your coats, patch your gloves, draw treasure maps on the floor (draw it out)

Clouds fold like blankets above; there's nothing else worth knocking for

Chorus

Snow day, snow day, stay, stay (oh-oh)

Snow day, snow day, we don't gotta run away (no, no)

Snow day, snow day, play, play (hey, hey)

Snow day, snow day, melt into the day — whoa, whoa

Bridge

(da-da-da) footprints spell our names in the new white

(ta-ta-ta) build a fort, lock the world out for tonight

(ah-ah) cold on our noses, then warm, and warm again

We murmur in blankets, promise someday we'll remember when

We promise someday we'll remember when

Chorus

Snow day, snow day, stay, stay (oh-oh)

Snow day, snow day, we don't gotta run away (nah)

Snow day, snow day, play, play (hey, hey)

Snow day, snow day, melt into the day — whoa, whoa

Chorus

Snow day, snow day, stay, stay (stay)

Snow day, snow day, we don't gotta run away

Snow day, snow day, play, play

Snow day, snow day, melt into the day — whoa
