Happy Birthday, Dear Rector

Intro

Hey-hey Rector, oh-oh, yeah (amen)

Verse

On this day we gather, candles in your name

For the hands that guide us, for the steady flame

Through late-night letters and the plans you hold

You lift the weary, you turn the gray to gold

We thank the hours, every careful choice

We lift our voices, we lift them with one voice

Chorus

Happy birthday, dear Rector, happy birthday (happy, happy)

God be with you, God be with you (be with you)

May your days be full of laughter, may your roads be kind and true

May you be filled with lots of happiness, lots of happiness (lots, lots)

Happy birthday, dear Rector, happy birthday

Verse

May every door swing open, may wisdom lead the way

May health walk with you morning, and peace stay through the day

May each small victory multiply and grow

May friends surround you everywhere you go

You carry care with courage, steady, calm and clear

We celebrate your journey, we hold you near

Bridge

We raise our hands, we send our prayer (amen)

We sing it loud, we hold you there (hold you there)

Oh-oh, oh-oh, blessing after blessing

Oh-oh, oh-oh, now and ever-lasting
