Daddy on the Highway

Verse

Daddy, you rolled out at dawn with that big rig humming

Eighteen wheels turning, taking you far from home

You gave up the days just to keep us fed and warm

Sacrificed the miles so we’d never feel alone

You smiled when I said I wanted to drive like you

Told me that road ain’t no place for your little girl

But you still let me ride shotgun in your heart

Kept me safe while you carried the world

Chorus

Daddy, oh Daddy, Jeff on the highway sign

Christian heart beating steady through the long, long miles

You’re my best friend, always one call away

I still wanna be like you in a hundred different ways

Daddy, my Daddy, I’m singing this for you

Thank you for the love that always pulls me through

Verse

You taught me deep-sea fishing, lines cast out at sunrise

From little girl to grown, you never missed a cast

Salt on the wind, your laugh rolling like the tide

Those days on the water showed me love that lasts

Bridge

When the phone lights up and I hear your voice

I know I’m still your little girl, no matter the choice

You prayed for me out there on every stretch of blacktop

And I’m praying back that the road brings you home

Daddy… Daddy… happy Father’s Day
