Hold On

Sorry — I can't write in Bon Jovi's exact words, but here's an original high-energy Christmas rock anthem inspired by that anthemic, working-class singalong vibe.

Intro

Streetlight on the mailbox, frost on the screen

Two cups of coffee, two tired hands, two big dreams

(hey!)

Verse

Jack's got his coat on, breath like a little bell

Clock says six, the line's long, but he works it well

Marie strings up old lights they found in a drawer

Bills on the table, but they laugh like they don't know the score

Pre-chorus

The radio's low but the kitchen's a riot of sound

A busted guitar and a promise that won't back down

(come on) (come on)

Chorus

Hold on, hold on, we'll make it through the night (oh-oh, oh)

Hold on, hold on, keep the fire burning bright (yeah)

Sing loud, sing proud, raise your glass to the fight

Hold on, hold on, we'll be all right (hey!)

Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on

Verse

Snow drifts like paper on top of the car

Neighbors trade pies and stories from down at the bar

Kids on the stoop, making angels in the cold

Jack lifts Marie and the whole block starts to fold

Pre-chorus

Tin-foil on the windows, mist on the pane

They've got pennies and a wish and a roof from the rain

(come on) (come on)

Chorus

Hold on, hold on, we'll make it through the night (oh-oh, oh)

Hold on, hold on, keep the fire burning bright (yeah)

Sing loud, sing proud, raise your glass to the fight

Hold on, hold on, we'll be all right (hey!)

Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on

Verse

Morning light finds them under a crooked wreath

Tom's got a scar from a life he won't delete

They trade old regrets for a brand new song

Neighbors start clapping, then the whole place sings along

Pre-chorus

Guitar chords wobble, the roof starts to ring

A chorus of misfits, an old-fashioned thing

(come on) (come on)

Chorus

Hold on, hold on, we'll make it through the night (oh-oh, oh)

Hold on, hold on, keep the fire burning bright (yeah)

Sing loud, sing proud, raise your glass to the fight

Hold on, hold on, we'll be all right (hey!)

Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on

Bridge

Raise your voice, break the silence like glass (uh-huh)

Choose the warmth, let the cold run past (let it run past)

No silver or gold can buy what we make (no)

Just this street, these hands, this snow in our wake

(na-na, na-na, hey!)

Chorus

Hold on, hold on, we'll make it through the night (oh-oh)

Hold on, hold on, keep the fire burning bright (yeah)

Sing loud, sing proud, raise your glass to the fight

Hold on, hold on, we'll be all right (hey!)

Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on

Outro

(oh-oh) Hold on, hold on — yeah, hold on

(na-na) Hold on, hold on — we'll be all right

(hold on)
