Arkey's Big Yellow Smile

Intro

(da-da) Blub-blub, oh-oh, yeah

Blub-blub, oh-oh, yeah

Verse

There's a yellow swell in the water, round as a bell

Arkey's got a belly that tells a story nobody tells

He hums to the kelp and he spins in the foam

But when other fins pass by, he swims alone

He wears a crooked grin, a stripe like a sunbeam

He eats a little too much of the driftwood and cream (ha)

Kids of the reef point and dart like rain

Arkey sighs, blows a bubble, calls out his name

Pre-chorus

He practices a laugh in the mirror of the tide

He practices a dance where the anemones hide (uh-huh)

Wants to race the current, wants to join the chorus line

Wants one small hand—or fin—to find

Chorus

Arkey, Arkey, big yellow smile (Arkey) (Arkey)

Floatin' like a lemon in a slow, slow style (oh-oh)

Arkey, Arkey, come on, come along (come on)

Drift with me, sing the silly song (na-na, yeah)

Arkey, Arkey, big yellow smile (Arkey) (Arkey)

Floatin' like a lemon in a slow, slow style (oh-oh)

Arkey, Arkey, don't be alone (don't be)

I'll hum with you 'til the current's gone (uh-huh)

Verse

He tries to join the games, but the lanes go tight

His belly bumps the sand and he takes the blame for the fright

He watches crabs clap hands, seahorses spin and twirl

He practices a tiny joke to give to any girl

At night he counts the moonfish, draws circles in the sand

He dreams of one small fin that reaches for his hand (reach)

Sometimes he stumbles on a shell that sings his name

He carries it like armor through the wave and through the rain

Chorus

Arkey, Arkey, big yellow smile (Arkey) (Arkey)

Floatin' like a lemon in a slow, slow style (oh-oh)

Arkey, Arkey, come on, come along (come on)

Drift with me, sing the silly song (na-na, yeah)

Arkey, Arkey, big yellow smile (Arkey) (Arkey)

Floatin' like a lemon in a slow, slow style (oh-oh)

Arkey, Arkey, don't be alone (don't be)

I'll hum with you 'til the current's gone (uh-huh)

Bridge

Maybe tomorrow someone will laugh the right way

Maybe a tiny shrimp will stay and say "hey"

Maybe the reef's loud enough to make two hearts bend

Maybe the ocean's wide enough to hold a friend

(hey, hey) oh-oh (hey, hey) uh

(heyi ya) na-na, come on

Chorus

Arkey, Arkey, big yellow smile (Arkey) (Arkey)

Floatin' like a lemon in a slow, slow style (oh-oh)

Arkey, Arkey, come on, come along (come on)

Drift with me, sing the silly song (na-na, yeah)

Arkey, Arkey, big yellow smile (Arkey) (Arkey)

Floatin' like a lemon in a slow, slow style (oh-oh)

Arkey, Arkey, don't be alone (don't be)

I'll hum with you 'til the current's gone (uh-huh)

Outro

Blub-blub, Arkey, blub-blub, yeah

Blub-blub, Arkey, blub-blub, yeah

(keep swimmin')
