ECHOES IN THE NIGHT

When tempers flare, deeds are done without love nor care, When no soul answers thy fervent call, none on earth see thy teardrops fall— O mind, thou ghost with restless breath, endless comments voiced until my death? my soul caught in this material lair, until I fall still and say, "I am aware". The world may twist and defy thy will, cup unfilled, and ambitions come to nill Thou wish to rule, flee, or cry, to complain, demand , know the why but with the words "I am", thou return to the sky. Yet I shall not in shadow dwell, Nor bind my soul to heaven nor hell. Not the watcher - not the one with despair — I am not a thing... I am aware. air I was, or a thought form could be, I rested in formless eternity. No shape, no sound, no dream to share— I am that space. I am aware. Let winners boast and losers plea, Let lovers meet and scholars see but I need not claim, nor speak, nor dare, To prove I am — the one soul that we all share Hush now, mind, no fight nor flee no need to crave, nor pretend you're me there's nobody here, no others to see no subject nor object, I can simply be.
