Happy Birthday, Dad

Intro

Oh — yeah, oh — uh-huh

(come on, come on) Hallelujah

Verse

You woke before the sunrise, hands steady, coffee warm

Built our world with steady hands, kept us safe through every storm

Taught us how to stand up tall, taught us how to give and pray

Led with kindness, led with truth, showed the gentle Jesus way

You fixed the fence and fixed our hearts, you called us in when days were long

Sang the songs of mercy soft, taught us how to carry on (carry on)

Generous like open doors, always first to lend a hand

Eighty-two candles glow — you’re steady where you stand

Pre-chorus

We learned to work and learned to love (learned to love)

We learned to trust the hands above (hands above)

Every lesson, every blessin’ — every little word you said

Built a home where faith could grow and hope could rest its head

Chorus

Happy birthday, Dad, happy birthday, Dad — hallelujah, yeah

Happy birthday, Dad, happy birthday, Dad — we bless the work you do

You’re the best, you’re the best, you’re the best, oh Dad (you’re the best)

I love you more than anything, I love you more than anything — amen

Verse

You shared the Gospel at the table, shared a Bible and your smile

Prayed over every heartbreak, walked with us another mile

You’re on fire for the Lord, you point us to the light

With your laughter and your mercy, you hold wrong things to right

From Sunday songs to weekday calls, you never missed a need

Gave us courage, gave us home, taught us how to plant the seed (plant the seed)

Now we sing your name with joy, we lift your life today

Eighty-two years blessing us — we celebrate your way

Bridge

Thank you for the mornings, thank you for the road you paved (thank you)

Thank you for the dinners, for the prayers that kept us brave (kept us brave)

May the Lord surround you, may His peace be by your side

We’ll sing your name forever, we’ll hold your truth with pride

Chorus

Happy birthday, Dad, happy birthday, Dad — hallelujah, yeah

Happy birthday, Dad, happy birthday, Dad — we bless the work you do

You’re the best, you’re the best, you’re the best, oh Dad (you’re the best)
