Great Joy

Intro

(Upbeat acoustic guitar strumming joins a steady drum kick)

(Clap, clap-clap!)

(Voices harmonizing: Ooh, Ooh, Ooh!)

Verse

The stars were hanging heavy in the Bethlehem sky

The shepherds kept their watch as the night went by

But the darkness didn’t stand a single chance at all

When the glory of the Father started to fall!

The heavens ripped open with a blinding light

To chase away the shadows of a lonely night!

Pre-chorus

The shepherds trembled, they fell to their knees

But the messenger said, "Listen to me, please!"

Don’t you be afraid, don’t you be distressed

I’ve got a message and the world is blessed!

Chorus

Fear not! For behold I bring

Good tidings of a brand new King!

It’s a Great Joy for every soul

A story of a love that’s gonna make us whole!

To all people, let the word get out

This is what the heavens are singing about!

Verse

In the City of David, check the time and the place

History is changing by the power of grace!

Not in a palace, not in silver or gold

But the greatest story that has ever been told.

The wait is over, the promise is true

I’ve got some news that’s gonna see you through!

Bridge

(Music builds with a driving bassline)

Unto you is born this day!

Unto you—He’s the Truth, the Way!

A Savior has arrived, yeah, He’s come to board

He is Christ! He is Christ the Lord!

Unto you is born this day!

Unto you—He’s the Truth, the Way!

A Savior has arrived, yeah, He’s come to board

He is Christ! He is Christ the Lord!

Chorus

Fear not! For behold I bring

Good tidings of a brand new King!

It’s a Great Joy for every soul

A story of a love that’s gonna make us whole!

To all people, let the word get out

This is what the heavens are singing about!
