Broken and Brilliant

Intro

(ta-ta-ta) watch the sparks fly, watch the city split

(oh-oh) metal kissing rain, the skyline takes a hit

Verse

We grew up in the gutters where the steam never sleeps

Pulled the cogs apart for secrets that ran too deep

Little hands, big dreams, a map of soldered scars

We called it home, we called it ours — under busted stars

Pre-chorus

Powder in the palms, hoping for a fix (hoping, hoping)

A lullaby of gears, promises and tricks (promise, promise)

The tower reached for daylight, we learned to breathe in fumes

Promises in polished glass, rumors in the tombs

Chorus

We are broken and brilliant, broken and brilliant (yeah, yeah)

We are rust and fire, rust and fire (oh-oh)

When the world pulls the trigger, we sing, we shout, we riot

We are broken and brilliant, broken and brilliant (woo)

Verse

She painted her grin on the face of the night

Confetti from the corners, chaos in the light

Names carved on metal, names traded for a laugh

A girl with a plan and a cylinder of past

He tapped the glass and measured what the future cost

Blueprints and regrets folded into every loss

There’s a crown in the rafters, there’s a rust on the keys

We learn to fix what’s broken or bend it to our knees

Pre-chorus

There’s a letter in the ruins, ink soaked like rain (read it, read it)

A promise to remember, a promise turned to flame (burn it, burn it)

You chase a brighter engine, I chase a quieter grave

We keep the pieces spinning, we keep the pieces brave

Chorus

We are broken and brilliant, broken and brilliant (la-la)

We are shadow and spark, shadow and spark (hey)

When the court writes the verdict, we throw our own confetti

We are broken and brilliant, broken and brilliant (oh-oh)

Bridge

(ah-ah) Close the shutters, close the seam

(heh) Shot of blue, a laughing machine

(glass) Tip the bottle, flip the coin

(uh-huh) Sister, soldier, stranger, join

Chorus

We are broken and brilliant, broken and brilliant (yeah)

We are ash and color, ash and color (whoa)

When the towers are trembling, we dance on the rubble

We are broken and brilliant, broken and brilliant
