Happy Birthday, Meegan

Intro

Da-da-da, hey! (Meegan!)

Oooh, oh-oh, la-la-la

Curtain up, curtain up, bring the confetti, bring the brass

Hey! Hey! Oh!

Verse

She walks in with a smile and the classroom turns to song

Little hands raise like lanterns, every voice grows strong

She’s their second parent, she’s the room’s surprise parade

With a chalk-sticky baton and a kindness that won’t fade

Cats curl on her music stand, dogs wait by the gate (aww)

She hums a tune that turns a Monday into something great

Elementary maestro, full of sparkle and of wit

When Meegan starts to count it in, the whole world wants to sit

Pre-chorus

She’s got stiletto sparkle on a 9-to-5 stage

Turns rehearsal into gold, turns every page (yeah)

From a two-beat swing to a high Broadway cry

When she opens up her mouth, you believe the sky

Chorus

Happy birthday, Meegan, take a bow, take a bow (take a bow)

Happy birthday, Meegan, we’re singing loud now (loud now)

Happy birthday, Meegan, spotlight on your name (your name)

Happy birthday, Meegan, all aboard the train (all aboard)

Happy birthday, Meegan, take a bow, take a bow (ta-da!)

Happy birthday, Meegan, we love you anyhow (we love you!)

Verse

She swings like Ella, she belts Broadway like nobody else

Jazz keys at midnight, she’s the pulse behind the pells

A pianist in pearls, accompanist of dreams

She plays the quiet gold between all the big extremes

Stylish in a trench, with a laugh that fills the hall

She turns a little stumble into a standing call

Her voice, the best I’ve heard — yeah, I’ll say it out loud

When Meegan takes a bridge, the audience is proud

Pre-chorus

She takes the road in a suitcase, stamps her map with love

Tickets, postcards, suitcase hugs, and an airplane above (oh)

Her Irish Frankie by her side, a two-person duet

They dance in kitchen light and laugh at every misstep

Bridge

Oh! We clap, (clap) we cheer, (cheer) we shout her name (Meegan!)

La-la-la, the razzle, the riddle, the razzmatazz of fame

She gives the kids a tune, she gives the stage a grin

She gives the world a reason to begin again (begin again)

Oh-oh, Meegan, oh-oh (Meegan!)

Curtain falls, but not the sound — we carry you around
