Happy Wedding Anniversary, Pondy Thatha and Bathu Ammachi

Intro

Hey-hey, Pondy thatha, Bathu ammachi, ayy (hey)

Oyi oyi, la-la-la, come sing with me

Verse

You met on a bright shore, hands tied with laughter

Tea steam in the morning, lullabies after

Years turned into stories that we tell and keep

Little feet dancing where your footprints sleep

(so much love, so much love)

Pre-chorus

Folded letters, old songs, the way you hum the tune

Sundays full of color, monsoon and mango June (aww)

Your smiles are the map that guide us home, yeah (guide us)

We gather, we remember, we call your names out loud

Chorus

Happy wedding anniversary, Pondy thatha, Bathu ammachi

Happy wedding anniversary, Pondy thatha, Bathu ammachi

Happy, happy, happy—Pondy thatha, Bathu ammachi (hey)

Happy wedding anniversary, Pondy thatha, Bathu ammachi

Verse

Your hands made the table, your jokes made the light

You taught us to dance through the small and the bright

Recipes in your pockets, secret smiles in your eyes

Every year another promise under these open skies

(oh-oh, oh-oh)

Pre-chorus

Stitched-up afternoons, stories told till late

Grandchildren’s little chorus, ringing at the gate (ring, ring)

You built us a harbor with laughter and care

We stand here and sing, and everyone’s there

Happy wedding anniversary, Pondy thatha, Bathu ammachi

Happy wedding anniversary, Pondy thatha, Bathu ammachi

Happy, happy, happy—Pondy thatha, Bathu ammachi (ayy)

Happy wedding anniversary, Pondy thatha, Bathu ammachi

Bridge

May the days come soft, may the nights bring songs (la-la)

May the cooking pot bubble, may the laughter stay long (stay long)

We raise our hands, we raise our voices for you
