Check It First

Verse

I see posts every day

On my phone when I wake

Some are true, some are fake

Gotta check for my sake

People share everything

Even without thinking

But before I hit share

I gotta make sure it’s fair

Pre-chorus

’Cause the trolls gonna troll, troll, troll, troll, troll

And the fakes gonna flow, flow, flow, flow, flow

I’m just gonna scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll

And check it first, check it first

If the news looks too good, good, good, good, good

Or too bad to be true, true, true, true, true

I’m like, “Wait, who wrote you, you, you, you, you?”

So check it first, check it first

Chorus

I check it first

I check it first

Fake news? I spot it

Then I block it

I check it first

I check it first

I check it first

Verse

Some posts look kinda wild

Clickbait made to go viral

“Miracle cure overnight!”

Girl that’s fake—don’t believe the hype

I look for the sources

Before I join the chorus

I stay smart every day

’Cause facts will lead the way

Pre-chorus

’Cause the trolls gonna troll, troll, troll, troll, troll

And the fakes gonna flow, flow, flow, flow, flow

I’m just gonna scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll

And check it first, check it first

Scams will try to take, take, take, take, take

All your data—wait, wait, wait, wait, wait

I’m like, “Nope, that link looks fake, fake, fake, fake, fake”

So check it first, check it first

Chorus

I check it first

I check it first

Fake news? I spot it

Then I block it

I check it first

I check it first

I check it first

Bridge

Hey, hey, hey

Just think—

While you’ve been busy liking posts that look legit

You could’ve been

Checking if the source is real

Or if the headline’s just clickbait

Trying to steal your brain—

Wait!

Chorus

I check it first

I check it first

Fake posts? I dodge it

Scam links? I block it

I check it first

I check it first

I check it first
