We Gooning in School

Intro

Oh-oh, hey-ya, come on now

Clap it up, clap it up (clap, clap)

Hallelujah, yeah (hallelujah)

Verse

School bell rings, hallway hums, we step in like a choir

Books in our hands, but God's the reason for our fire

Paper and pencils, but our praise is louder than the bell

We move, we groove, we testify — you know it well

Smiles in the locker row, feet start tappin' on the floor

Teacher tips her head and says, "Lord, we've asked for more"

From the cafeteria table to the classroom window view

We lift a little noise — come on, let it loose, let it through

Pre-chorus

Oh, we can't keep quiet, no (no, no)

Joy's a river, let it flow (flow)

Sing it soft or sing it bold (bold)

This good news never gets old (never)

Chorus

We gooning in school — goon, goon, goon (goon, goon)

Praise in the hallway, praise in the room (hey)

We gooning in school — clap, clap, stomp (clap, clap)

Let the spirit move you, let the spirit bloom (hallelujah)

We gooning in school — goon, goon, goon (goon, goon)

Lift your voice up, lift it to the moon (oh-oh)

We gooning in school — clap, clap, stomp (clap, clap)

Say amen, say amen (amen), sing it again (sing it again)

Verse

Recess bell rings, but this ain't about the swing

We're dancin' with our faith — tambourine and everything

Sneakers on the pavement, rhythm in the feet

Little hands in the air, heaven's playlist on repeat

Homework on the desk, but praise is the assignment

Passing notes that read "Be blessed," that's our alinement

Chapel in the courtyard, voices weave like threads

We stitch our joy together, make a quilt of praise instead

Bridge

(Go on) Oh, let 'em see the light in your grin (let 'em see)

(Go on) Let the laughter be the offering (the offering)

(Go on) Every hallway, every chapel pew (every pew)

(Go on) Child of the promise, God is with you — woo!
