Happy Sweet Sixteen

Intro

Hey—hey, yeah, uh-huh

Light it up, light it up (oh)

Verse

Sixteen candles on the window sill

You laugh and the whole room learns your will

Messy hair, bright shoes, stubborn grin

You walk in a storm and still make it spin

Coffee cups and late-night plans

Secret jokes and tangled hands (yeah)

You paint your days in colors bold

One-of-a-kind, worth more than gold

Pre-chorus

Every step you take, I see the truth

A little loud, a little brave, always you (always you)

Don’t change, don’t hide, don’t be small

I’ll shout it from the rooftop, I’ll give my all

Chorus

Happy sweet sixteen, sing it out (happy, happy)

You’re one of a kind, there’s no doubt (no doubt)

Don’t change, just be you, shine through (shine through)

So proud, so proud, so proud of you (so proud)

Oh-oh, oh-oh, yeah—yeah

Verse

Remember when you learned to ride the stars

Scuffed-up knees, and late-night guitar

You sketched the future with a stubborn pen

You come undone and then you’re whole again

Phone lights in the hallway, whispers of plans (let’s go)

You take a risk and you clap your hands (clap, clap)

I see the brave things you hide and show

I’m in the crowd, watching you grow

Pre-chorus

Every choice you make, I cheer the truth

A little wild, a little kind, always you (always you)

Hold your funny scars, your loud, soft parts

You’re the mapmaker of your own brave heart

Bridge

If the nights get heavy, I’ll bring the light (I’ll bring it)

If the road gets crooked, we’ll walk it right (we’ll walk it)

I’m here, I’m steady, I’ll stand beside you (stand beside)

Cheering, believing in the girl I’m proud to know

Say your name like a small, bright song (say it)

Keep your head high and keep moving on (move on)

You are fierce, you are kind, you are free

Stay you, stay true, always be

Outro

(so proud) Happy birthday, love—stay you, stay you
