The Christmas Exchange

Verse

It’s easy to smile when the table is full,

When your stockings are stuffed and your hands never pull.

But what do you give when your own plate is bare?

Do you hold back your heart or show someone you care?

It's not in the ribbons, it's not in the bows,

It’s love in the little things nobody knows.

Chorus

So give when it’s hardest, shine when it’s dark,

Love from the edges, not just from the heart.

God sees the gift when it comes through the pain,

That’s the beauty, the wonder — the Christmas exchange.

Kindness for sorrow, hope for despair,

When you give out of need, His grace meets you there.

He’s the Provider, the Reason we sing —

This is the Christmas… the Christmas Exchange.

Verse

A coat for the cold, a smile for the rain,

A hug for the lonely, a hand for the pain.

You may not have riches wrapped under a tree,

But the richest of gifts is when love is set free.

The treasure of heaven came down as a child,

Not to be served, but to serve all the while.

Bridge

When all that you have is the faith to believe,

That sowing in love is how hearts receive…

God will return it in ways we can’t see —

Press down, shaken, and running free…

Chorus

So give when it’s hardest, shine when it’s dark,

Love from the edges, not just from the heart.

God sees the gift when it comes through the pain,

That’s the beauty, the wonder — the Christmas exchange.

Mercy for anger, joy for the fear,

You give and He gives — He is always near.

He’s still the reason, forever the King…

This is the Christmas… the Christmas Exchange.

Yes, this is the Christmas… the Christmas Exchange.
