Church Family

Intro

Oh-oh, hey-yi, come on now, come on now

(la-la, la-la) yeah, yeah

Verse

Sunday porch, coffee cups, laughter in the kitchen

Names on the list, two casseroles, a kid with a mission

We fold the napkins, we fold the hands, we fold the hurts away

Stories on the sofa, somebody’s song saves the day

Neighbors bring blankets, old shoes get mended

A chain of small kindnesses that never ends, yeah

We pass the light, we pass the plate, we pass the grace along

Every voice a welcome, every voice a home

Pre-chorus

We show up, we stand up, we stay when the road gets long (stay, stay)

We give more than words, we give a place to belong (give, give)

Chorus

Church family, chosen family, hand in hand we sing (hey)

Helping others, having fun, lifting everything (oh-oh)

Church family, chosen family, laugh and pray and bring

Joy to the table, joy to the table, joy to the table — sing (yeah, sing)

Church family, chosen family, hand in hand we sing (hey)

Helping others, having fun, loving everything (oh-oh)

Church family, chosen family — come on, come on, come on, sing (heyi ya)

Verse

Wednesday phone calls, who needs a ride? Who needs a smile?

Painted porches, late-night stories, somebody sits a while

We patch the roofs, we share the coats, we answer every door

When life gets heavy there's a choir on the floor

Kids in the corner making up a dance, clapping to the tune

Old men trading jokes beneath the light of the moon

We raise a little money, we raise a little more love

We reach across the table, never asking why or what for

Bridge

Come take my hand (take it), come take my hand (come on)

We’ll sing it loud, we’ll sing it soft, we’ll sing it up again

(da-da-da) clap clap, stomp-stomp, feel the rhythm of the room

(na-na, na-na) every hug a hymn, every laugh a boom

Chorus

Church family, chosen family, hand in hand we sing (come on)

Helping others, having fun, lifting everything (lift it up)

Church family, chosen family, laugh and pray and bring

Joy to the table, joy to the table, joy to the table — sing (amen)
