The Light Came Down

Verse

In the stillness of the night, the world stood still

Hope was born in a manger, beyond human will

No palace walls, no royal crown

Just heaven’s love touching the ground

Verse

For unto us a Child is born,

Unto us a Son is given,

And the government shall be upon His shoulder,

And His name shall be called Wonderful.

Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace,

His kingdom has no end,

His peace will never cease

Chorus

The light came down, the dark gave way

Love took flesh on Christmas Day

From Bethlehem to every land

Peace was born by God’s own hand

Verse

Shepherds watched beneath the sky

As angels filled the night with light

“Do not fear,” the heavens said,

“Good news of joy for all instead.”

A Savior has been born today,

Christ the Lord, the chosen way,

In the town of David now,

Salvation touched the ground

Chorus

The light came down, the dark gave way

Hope has a name—Emmanuel

For the broken, for the found

Grace was poured when the light came down

Bridge

Glory to God in the highest,

And on earth peace,

Goodwill toward all.

Sing it louder, let it rise,

Heaven touching human lives

Chorus

Not just a child, not just a sign

But love that crossed all space and time

Chorus

The light came down, let heaven sing

Hope is alive, the King still reigns

For every heart, for every sound

The world was changed

When the light came down

Outro

For God so loved the world,

That He gave His only Son,

That whoever believes in Him

Shall not perish, but have eternal life.
