Carol, Here's to Sixty

Intro

Hey — hey — Carol, come on now (come on)

Uh-huh, oh-oh, yeah-yeah, heyi ya

Clap it up, clap it up (clap, clap)

Verse

Sixty candles, one big porch light

Bluebonnets bow when you pass by in the springtime

You bring the brisket, the laugh, the extra chair

A hand that steadies, a heart that’s always there

From Sixth Street mornings to quiet Lady Bird walks

You remind us how to dance, how to talk

Generous as Texas sky, honest as the dawn

A real friend through every right and wrong

Pre-chorus

You give what's needed when the road runs thin (when the road runs thin)

You stay when stories bend, you start again (start again)

So tonight we sing for everything you are (you are)

Raise it up, raise it up, shine like a star (shine, shine)

Chorus

Carol, here's to sixty — sing it loud, sing it proud (sing it loud)

Carol, here's to sixty — lift your glass up to the crowd (lift it up)

Carol, here's to sixty — love that’s true and steady now (oh-oh)

Carol, here's to sixty — our friend, our joy, our vow (yeah, yeah)

Carol, here's to sixty — sing it loud, sing it proud (sing it loud)

Carol, here's to sixty — lift your glass up to the crowd (lift it up)

Verse

You show up with a smile and a helping hand

Know every birthday, every plan, every band

You give the best advice in your quiet way

Turn the ordinary into holiday

Remember the time under a summer sky?

You and a playlist loud, margaritas high

You keep our secrets safe like precious keys

You bring the light back when the cold wind freezes

Pre-chorus

You laugh at the small things, you stand by the tall (stand by the tall)

You fix what's broken, you answer every call (every call)

So we write your name on this whole town tonight (on this town)

Circle it, loud and long, till it feels just right (feels right)

Bridge

Oh, the roads ahead are wide and golden (wide and golden)

We’ll walk them with you, hand in hand, unbroken (hand in hand)

Songs on the radio, porch light on the rail

Every memory stamped like a postcard trail

La-la-la, la-la-la (la-la)

Hey — hey — Carol (Carol), hey — hey — Carol (Carol)

Carol, here's to sixty — sing it loud, sing it proud (sing it loud)
