Lyrics
Verse
In Missouri, on a summer morn, a baby boy of the Choctaw clan was born.
The man who raised him was a gunfighter pro,
and he taught the young lad a quick pro quo.
It was Billy Ray Morrison, a fast gun draw, who taught the young man of a Choctaw squaw.
Joe Wanger was his name, and he was fast,
and the west learned quickly not to give him sass.
Chorus
Yes, Wanger was a man with integrity,
who learned the way of pistol fighting enemies,
He was young, and he was not afraid to defend the honor of the people he'd save.
Verse
During the Civil War, he became a scout
and could track any movement on the Rebel lines.
When the war was over, he returned to his home
and found his birth father, and everything was fine.
But men came a-looking for the half-breed son,
and ended up a notch on the Choctaw's gun.
So the story goes, as his days were long,
and the man with the fast draw won't be wronged.
