Love Of My Life

Verse

Out on the highway, windows rolled down

Summer of ’75 just spinning around

There was a Kelso girl with beautiful blond hair

Shining like sunlight on a California morning

Green eyes that could stop a man cold

Golden skin and a big heart made of pure gold

Pre-chorus

She gave birth young, barely seventeen

But she raised that boy like a redwood tree

Strong and tall, proud and free

Chorus

She’s the love of my life, yeah the love of my life

Taking road trips with the radio high

She loves her boy, adores her grandkids

Laughing in the kitchen while the gravy gets thick

‘Cause she’s a great cook, Lord, a caretaker too

And Jesus is her life, shining right through

My Kelso girl, love of my life

Verse

Years went wandering, paths went apart

But fate turned the wheel and it circled back to the start

She reconnected with me on a quiet night

Felt like the first time under that porch light

Same green eyes, same smile that could start a fire

Same big heart pulling me higher and higher

Chorus

She’s the love of my life, yeah the love of my life

Taking road trips with the radio high

She loves her boys, adores her grandkids

Dancing in the living room to old Disco licks

Sweet as honey, Lord, a caretaker too

And Jesus is her life, shining right through

My Kelso girl, love of my life

Bridge

Through every mile, every joy, every pain

She’s the soft place I run to in the pouring rain

Golden skin in the dashboard glow

Singing harmony on a song we both know

Chorus

You’re the love of my life, still the love of my life

Every road trip ends where your hand is in mine

You love your boys, adore those grandkids

And I’m the lucky man who gets to live with all of this

Great cook, caretaker, beautiful blond hair

Green eyes that still catch me unaware

My Kelso girl…

Jesus is your life, and you’re the love of mine

Love of my life

Yeah, the love of my life

Outro

Kelso girl… beautiful blond hair…

Green eyes… big heart…

Love of my life…
