A Shepherd King

Verse

Dusty roads and desert sun, a shepherd boy with a sling and a stone

He's the youngest of his kin, the one they left to face the unknown

A giant's shadow, casting fear, a nation paralyzed by dread

But a young heart filled with faith, heard the taunts and shook his head

They laughed at his size, his simple tools, they said he'd fall beneath the weight

But he saw not a giant, but a challenge met by a loving, mighty fate

Chorus

Oh, David, the shepherd king, with a melody in his soul

From the battlefield to the palace hall, he made a broken nation whole

He faced the lions, the bears, and the pride of a world gone mad

He sang his psalms, a warrior's praise, to the only Father he had

Verse

The crown's weight is a heavy thing, a scepter can turn a heart to stone

He tasted triumph, he felt the sting, of a king who had to stand alone

He stumbled in the darkest night, a moment lost to worldly desire

But grace and truth, a guiding light, pulled him back from the fire

He owned his faults, with a humble plea, a king on his knees, a broken man

And in that moment of surrender, a new story began

Chorus

Oh, David, the shepherd king, with a melody in his soul

From the battlefield to the palace hall, he made a broken nation whole

He faced the lions, the bears, and the pride of a world gone mad

He sang his psalms, a warrior's praise, to the only Father he had

Bridge

From the harp's soft, tender sound, to the thunder of the war drums' beat

He lived a life on holy ground, with both bitter and with sweet

He was a man after God's own heart, a hero's legend, brave and true

A reminder that a new start is waiting for me and you

Outro

Oh, David, David, a king, a poet, a fighter, a friend

A story of hope that will never, ever end.
